CARLSBAD, CA (August 13, 2013) – The third-place finisher at the 95th PGA Championship utilized Nippon Shaft products in his irons and produced his second consecutive top-3 finish in a major championship and his fourth straight top-3 in his last four tournaments.
The highly respected veteran Swedish pro used the N.S. PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X flex shafts in his irons to shoot 68-66-69-70—273, three strokes behind the winner, at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY.
Now ranked 10th in the Official World Golf Rankings and No. 8 in FedEx Cup points, the 37-year-old native of Gothenburg finished third last month at the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart, second at the Open Championship at Muirfield and second earlier this month at the World Golf Championships Bridgestone at Firestone CC. He utilized Nippon Shaft in all the events, which have exceptionally strong fields. Earlier in the season, he was fifth at The Players, T-18 at The Masters and T-21 at the U.S. Open. He has won more than $3.4 million this season.
“Nippon Shaft would like to congratulate the No. 3 finisher in this year’s PGA Championship, who used Nippon Shaft steel shafts in his irons,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “His remarkable consistency and his high finishes this season are a combination of natural talent, hard work and the right equipment.
“Nippon Shaft continues to design and manufacture the highest quality products for world-class players who compete at the highest levels of the game as well as for amateurs who want to get the most out of their games,” Fukuda said.
His next tournament is The Barclays, starting August 27, the first FedExCup Playoff event of 2013.
The N.S. PRO MODUS³ Tour 130 went on sale to the public on Feb. 1 after Nippon Shaft experts spent years traveling with the PGA TOUR getting player feedback and input during the shaft’s development phase. The other shafts mentioned above also were developed during this process.
Nippon Shaft has been developing shafts specifically for professional and high-level amateur players since 2010.
Nippon Shaft products are available either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands. In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Shaftology – Nippon Shaft’s dedicated clubfitter network – and through the custom club departments of top club manufacturers.
Nippon Shaft manufactures all of its steel and graphite shafts in a state-of-the-art factory in Komagane, Japan.
