CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 20, 2014) – Two players using Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 130 steel shafts in their irons and wedges finished runner-up and tied for fifth, Sunday at the Open Championship while two other players, using the N.S. PRO 950GH and the N.S. PRO PROTO 980ST, tied for 12th.
The runner-up, from Spain, who finished two strokes behind the champion, shot a final round 6-under par 66 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England. He shot 15-under par 273 on rounds of 68-70-69-66, utilizing the popular Tour 130 to hit 70 percent of his greens in regulation.
The fifth place finisher from Australia, hit 72 percent of his greens in regulation, shot a final round 65 to finish at 12-under 276 for the championship.
Tied for 12th at 9-under par were the eight-year U.S pro out of Tacoma, who used the popular N.S. PRO 950GH steel shafts in his irons, and one of Sweden’s most prolific players, who used the N.S. PRO PROTO 980ST prototype shaft, which is becoming one of the Tour’s most played irons shafts.
