CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 19, 2014) – Nippon Shaft recorded its second consecutive victory in a women’s major championship Sunday (Aug. 17) at the Wegmans LPGA Championship in Rochester, New York.

Using Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO 950GH steel shafts in her irons, the soft-spoken 26-year-old South Korean successfully defended her title by forcing a playoff with her American counterpart and winning on the first hole of sudden death. She has now won four of the last nine women’s majors.

Earlier this summer, a player using Nippon Shaft products in her irons won the Women’s British Open.

Meanwhile, on the PGA TOUR, three players using Nippon Shaft steel shafts in their irons finished in the top 10 at the Wyndham Championship, including the runner-up and two players who were T-8.

The runner up used Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS³ PROTO ST steel shafts in his irons to shoot 16-under par on rounds of 68-66-66-64. En route to that score he hit 59 of 72 greens in regulation at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, tying for the tournament lead in that category. He earned $466,400.

Tying for eighth at 13-under par was the 35-year-old North Carolina native who also used the N.S. PRO MODUS³ PROTO ST steel shafts in his irons as well as the N.S. PRO WV steel shafts in his wedges. He shot 64-68-71-64—267.

The other player who tied for eighth was the 30-year-old South Carolinian who used the N.S. PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 steel shafts in his irons and the N.S. PRO WV shafts in his wedges, shooting 69-64-67-67.
