Six Players Who Use Nippon Shaft Headed for Tour Championship
CARLSBAD, Calif. (September 18, 2017) – A player using Nippon Shaft products recorded a five-shot, wire-to-wire victory Sunday (September 17) at the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois north of Chicago.
It was Nippon Shaft’s seventh victory on the PGA TOUR in the 2016-17 season.
The strapping 33-year-old Australian champion played the Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 130 X-flex steel shafts in his irons and wedges to shoot 23-under par with rounds of 62-64-68-67--261. His final round included six birdies, including three on the last four holes to seal the victory, which paid $1.575 million.
The victory boosted him to fourth place in the FedExCup rankings, meaning he could win the FedExCup – and its $10 million prize fund - with a victory this week in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
The BMW was his second win of the year; earlier he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando. He will be a member of the International team in the upcoming Presidents’ Cup team competition against the United States.
Six of the 30 players headed for the Tour Championship in Atlanta use Nippon Shaft, including one who finished T-7 at Conway Farms.
