Feb 13, 2023

CARLSBAD, Calif. (February 13, 2023) – The winner of the Phoenix Open used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron Sunday (Feb. 12) to successfully defend his title at TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Meanwhile, some 3,000 miles south, in Bogota, Colombia, a 37-year-old Australian used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ N.S. PRO 120 TX flex steel shafts in his irons to secure victory at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Astara Golf Championship at the Country Club de Bogota’s Lagos course. It was his second win on the developmental circuit.

With his back-to-back victory in Phoenix, the 26-year-old Texan ascended to No. 1 from No. 2 in the Official World Golf Rankings and banked a winner’s check of $3.6 million. He shot 68-64-68-65—265 in the “elevated” event enroute to becoming the seventh player to successfully defend his title in Phoenix.

In Bogota, the veteran Aussie shot 16-under par with rounds of 68-69-66-64—267 for which he earned $180,000. He made two eagles and 21 birdies in the course of the tournament, good for a four-stroke victory.

“Nippon Shaft would like to congratulate the winner of this year’s Phoenix Open,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are thrilled that he trusts Nippon Shaft’s breakthrough hybrid technology designed for use in the utility iron. The shaft combines the best qualities of steel and graphite and has become increasingly popular both on professional tours and with everyday golfers.

“We also are proud for the winner of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Astara Golf Championship in Colombia,” Fukuda continued. “His final round 7-under 64 with no bogeys was especially impressive.”

More than 200 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.
