LPGA Rookie Uses Nippon Shaft to Win in Portland
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 18, 2025) – The world’s No. 1 golfer used Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility (3) iron, August 17, to come from behind and win the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland outside Baltimore.
The 29-year-old Texan shot a 15-under-par total with rounds of 66-65-67-67–265 to win for the fifth time this season and put himself in position to win his second consecutive FedEx Cup title at this week’s TOUR Championship in Atlanta.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates the world’s No. 1 player on winning the BMW Championship and his fifth tournament of another incredible season,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are proud that he relied on our N.S.PRO MODUS³ Hybrid Tour X-flex shaft in his utility iron to continue his outstanding play. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old Japanese rookie used Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO 950GH neo steel shafts in her irons and wedges to win the Standard Portland Classic in the Rose City. It was her first LPGA Tour victory and came after she won five time on the Japan LPGA. She shot 24-under par with rounds of 67-67-64-66 to win by four shots. She is the fifth player from Japan to win on the LPGA this season. Her twin sister finished third.
“Nippon Shaft congratulates the winner of the Standard Portland Classic, who used N.S. PRO 950GH neo steel shafts in her irons and wedges,” Fukuda said. “We look forward to watching as her LPGA career continues to unfold and supplying equipment that helps her achieve her best.”
