WINS on PGA, LPGA & EURO TOURs

CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 12, 2021) – Nippon Shaft scored a golf trifecta Sunday (July 11), posting victories on the PGA, LPGA and European Tours on the same day.

The 41-year-old former U.S. Open champion shot a final round 7-under 64 to come from four shots back to win the 50th John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois by two strokes. The former Clemson Tiger used N.S.PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 TX steel shafts in his irons and N.S.PRO MODUS3 Wedge 125 steel shafts in his wedges to finish at 19-under par with rounds of 68-63-70-64—265. He earned $1.116 million and will be playing in this week’s Open Championship.

The other Modus Series victory came at the Scottish Open when the 22-year-old Australian used Nippon Shaft N.S.PRO MODUS3 Tour 120X steel shafts in his wedges to defeat two other players on the first hole of a sudden death playoff at the Renaissance Golf Club in North Berwick, Scotland. He shot 18-under par in regulation, posting rounds of 68-69-65-64—266, and earned €1,123,300 ($1.3 million U.S.) for his second European Tour victory.

They were the 244th and 245th victories on major professional tours for the Modus Series of steel shafts for irons and wedges.

Meanwhile on the women’s circuit, the 22-year-old from Japan recorded her fourth LPGA victory at the rain-shortened Marathon LPGA Classic using N.S. PRO 950GH steels shafts in her irons and wedges. She shot 19-under par with rounds of 61-69-64—194 before the tournament was reduced to a 54-hole event. She earned $300,000 for her victory at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
