Why play similar feeling driver and irons shafts?

Golfers' ultimate goal is to hit the ball farther and straighter on every shot. And if you can hit driver and irons shafts that feel and perform similarly, you may never say again, "Driver was good today but iron shots were not".

To make this dream come true, we offer the N.S.PRO Regio Formula driver shaft series for those using N.S.PRO MODUS³ irons. By using a N.S.PRO Regio Formula, you will play similar feeling and performing driver and irons shafts.

The result of combining sophisticated technology from our steel shafts and the design concepts of carbon shafts will make your golf game easier. Nippon Shaft is the only shaft manufacturer that can make matching products.

I felt that the 125 was stiffer so I chose S flex. It was easy to load and release the MB through the swing.

I usually play these shafts and like them. Very easy to hit for a higher ball flight. I’ve been using Tour 130 and my iron shots have improved. Then I tried the Formula M and my driver shots improved drastically.

Using Regio Formula or Regio FW depends on what kind of driver heads you have, light or heavy. I guess MODUS3 Tour 120 and Regio FW are good for my 3 wood, Regio Formula B is fine my 5 wood.

N.S.PRO MODUS3 Tour 130 does match with my swing and I hit it well! Even though N.S.PRO Regio Formula M was X-flex, I did not feel as if it was X-flex. Really liked it and nice match!

Kanomata, Seki had a conversation with SHAFTS(Japan Golf Fair 2017 Special talk)

MC:What impression do you have about Nippon SHAFT?

Kanomata:I guess NIPPON SHAFT is famous for the N.S.PRO and 950 series. Also, the Regio Formula series is well-known too. NIPPON SHAFT was highly evaluated as they produced 90g light steel shafts. Do you get the point of them producing carbon shafts?

MC:Not sure.

Kanomata:Would be good if you can swing the same with both steel and carbon shafts, right?

MC:Definitely, it would make golf easier.

Kanomata:If you find the best steel×carbon match, technically you can swing the same.

Seki:We all want to swing with the same rhythm.

MC:So I don't need to change my swing but I can still play well? Just awesome!

Kanomata:Yes, it is awesome. Let me talk about carbon shafts. What kind of shafts do you use, Mr.Seki?

Seki:I use Regio Formula M for my driver since my name "M"asashi lol... and MODUS3 Tour 130 for my irons. I guess the Master's champ from Spain uses 130, too. 130 and Regio Formula M work similar. My iron shots were always solid so I tried Regio Formula M then the driver went well.

Kanomata:You have been using Formula M and 130 for so long. Why do you like those?

Seki:130 is kind of heavy, and I believe that most of the golfers think heavy shafts are difficult.

Kanomata:130 is the most difficult I guess, if you compare it to 105, 120, 125.

Seki:That's what everybody thinks but 130 actually is easy to hit high. I know that you think the ball never goes higher by using heavy and difficult shafts. But it does not apply to 130.

Kanomata:That is why you were using 130.

Seki:Yeah, so easy to hit high. Formula M works the same as 130.

Kanomata:The amount of spin of recent club heads has decreased, right? So, 130 makes it easy to increase initial driving angle.

Seki:Yes, indeed.

Kanomata:How about the timing?

Seki:Actually, easy to time. Typical shafts do not really make me swing smoothly but it never happens with the 130. Regio Formula series is easy to use as well.

MC:Tell me about your club setting, Mr.Kanomata?

Kanomata:I use Regio Formula B. The tip is stiff and the ball goes straight. Usually if the tip of a shaft is stiff, the club face does not hit the ball properly and the face gets twisted. But Regio Formula B is different: the whip helps a lot and makes the ball goes straight, even on mis-hits.

MC:How about irons?

Kanomata:MODUS3 TOUR 120 actually works well with Regio Formula B. However, I use 105 for my irons.

Seki:105 is popular among PGA players, right?

Kanomata:Yes, that’s why I use it LOL. Well, I just wanted to make my irons lighter. I liked heavy shafts before and tried to hit punch shots. But 105 still allows me to hit well, so all good.

Seki:Good players usually use 120g shafts but MODUS³ TOUR 105 is around 100 grams. It is not heavy but not too light.

Kanomata:These days, PGA players tend to use lighter shafts.

Seki:Yes, they use lighter and longer shafts for drivers too.

Kanomata:Lighter shafts are now popular and will be the standard in the near future.

Seki:Light shafts did exist before but they were not that good.

Kanomata:True. Those were too soft, put too much spin to make weaker shots. But recent light shafts are different.

MC:I see. I now understand that "matching" is really important.

Kanomata:You know that the size of driver and iron heads are totally different. But you still need to feel as if you can swing with the same rhythm and timing. Some golfers think too much before hitting, but on the course, you cannot really think of many things. It is fine to do that at the practice range though. So you really need to find the best shafts and swing smoothly. And it should be the best way to get better.

Seki:Just blame it on your clubs. Try various clubs and find clubs that match your swing.

MC:Thank you for you advice. By the way, what do you think of Regio Formula MB?

Kanomata:Works very well for punch shots.

Seki:It is for tour players, I guess. Also good for those who want to hit lower shots.

Kanomata:And good for fairway woods, too. When you think of cost versus performance, the Regio Formula series is very reasonable.

Seki:Yes, not too expensive so I want everybody to try it.

Kanomata:The Regio Formula series is made to match to most of the golfers. So please try this series!
